If you’re constantly showing up on Page #1, but your website content is so poor that people leave your homepage right away, this means your website has a high bounce rate. The search engine crawlers will take note of this, and you’ll be penalized accordingly. That Page #1 ranking won’t last for long!

The goal is to get traffic to your website and to keep your customers there.

It can damage your brand

Let’s say you need to buy a suit. When you head to the mall, you notice two stores that at first, seem identical.  They sell the exact same shirts, suit jackets, pants, and ties, at the exact same price.

If one store looks clean, well-cared for and well lit, and it’s staffed by people who are happy and helpful, while the other store looks run-down, dirty and it’s staffed by people who are wearing sweatpants and hoodies, which store are you going to shop at?

Exactly.

Again, it’s all about making a good impression. If you have a poorly designed website, you’re likely leaving quite a few revenue dollars on the table.  Yes, you’ll need to invest money to have your website brought up to speed, but your conversion rates are likely to become a lot higher in the end.
